Monday Round Up: Fall Essentials

It’s officially Fall. Which means almost every woman is pulling out her booties from the closet and draping herself in all her over sized sweaters and tucking away her summer shorts and tees.

Yet here in the Midwest it has scarcely felt like fall. So since we are welcoming October today, my hope is that we will welcome fall along with the new month on the calendar. With that in mind, this Monday Round Up is very fall inspired! So grab you pumpkin spiced latte or your cinnamon chai tea for a wonderful fall Round up.

Music:

I have Spotify which is amazing for the music buff in me, because I can discover new music and listen to their whole list of albums. Recently I found SEU worship band and their music has been on repeat for the last three weeks. Whether I am doing dishes, dinner, or just driving in the car with an extra fussy boy in the back, it’s my go to at the moment. I’ve also been hooked on Paramore after my trip home and my nephew requested that my sister play Hard Times over five times over the span of four days. Thanks to him, I have a new album to go along with any housework that needs finishing.

Clothing:

If you are like me that anything over sized and cozy is one of the very reasons you are looking forward to a bit more chill and bite in the air. I am all about bundling up and keeping warm thanks to my mother. I am more concerned with keeping warm than keeping cute. I’ve learned from my college roommate that I don’t have to sacrifice comfort and warmth for looking stylish. One of my favorite outfit accessories is my cozy plaid blanket scarf. Mine looks actually like the one linked and it’s my favorite thing in the world. Add some cute booties and ripped jeans and I’m officially able to check off the “hot” part of hot mess mama!

Food:

As you know by now, I am not a huge coffee consumer. I like a splash of coffee with an embarrassing amount of almond milk creamer in my coffee. But I wanted a pumpkin spice mix to go along with the new season. So I started making Tazo Pumpkin Spiced tea with Stevia and it’s been the best on chilly mornings. I started adding cinnamon and nutmeg to my mostly milk latte to give it some fall spice and it’s a game changer.

As my husband and I work on eating very clean through the holidays, I found a pre-mixed for pumpkin muffins that will change your mind on “healthy” foods. Simple Mills made a pumpkin mix and it’s completely clean. Paleo, Keto, and Whole 30 approved. Nothing better than sipping on a hot homemade latte and a warm muffin! Bring on the falling leaves and chilly breeze!

Books:

Right now my husband and I are working through You and Me forever by Lisa and Francis Chan with our churches small group. It is a marriage eye-opener! Francis and Lisa write about marriage in light of eternity and to have a holy mindset about marriage. If you are getting married, or been married for months or even years, I highly recommend this book. They also have an app that where you are able to watch their YouTube videos, as well as some of the work book questions to dive deeper with your spouse.

And lastly, Missional Motherhood has changed the motherhood game for me. It’s given me a reality check that my child is my to-do list. He is my main priority as a stay at home mom and my to-do list comes second. It teaches mothers’ how to care for their children’s hearts even in the little ages. It was a very timely book for me as I am knee-deep in teething and constant cuddles, while the dishes pile high.

(I’m an avid book-worm so prepare for every Round up to have book recommendations. Send me some feedback on books you have read lately! I need some new ones and I would love to feature your favorites!)

That’s it for this first edition of Monday Round Up on some of my favorite things and products that I have used these days. Let me know your feedback and what you want to see in this Round Up in the coming weeks!

Tying you in,

Angel

First, I love your way of writing, I felt some wave of peace go through me as I read this post. I wish I lived in a place where there were seasons, I would love to dress up for fall. I was anticipating to get married but it didn’t work out, but I really want to read this book.

Thank you so much! That means so much that you would feel peace in my space of the world. Girl read it anyway! I read a handful of books on marriage before I got married and it was so helpful for me to understand what it’s like. And I am so sorry! I have been there where it didn’t work out like I hoped/thought it would. It gets so much better though!
